Every January 1, the Church celebrates the World Day of Peace with a reflection from the Pope on important subjects in
relation to the work of building peace.Pope Francis’ Message for the 57^th World Day of Peace has the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Peace.”

The Pope’s Message, divided into eight sections, examines the question of the progress of science and technology as a path to peace and reflects on the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

“If artificial intelligence were used to promote integral human development, it could introduce important innovations in agriculture, education and culture,” writes the Pope, adding that “the way we use it to include the least of our brothers and sisters, the vulnerable and those most in need, will be the true measure of our humanity “

Cada 1 de enero, la Iglesia celebra la Jornada Mundial de la Paz con una reflexión del Papa sobre temas importantes en relación con la labor de construir la paz. El Mensaje del Papa Francisco para la 57ª Jornada Mundial de la Paz tiene como tema “Inteligencia artificial y paz”.

El Mensaje del Papa, dividido en ocho secciones, examina la cuestión del progreso de la ciencia y la tecnología como camino hacia la paz y reflexiona sobre el futuro de la inteligencia artificial (IA).

“Si la inteligencia artificial se utilizara para promover el desarrollo humano integral, podría introducir importantes innovaciones en la agricultura, la educación y la cultura”, escribe el Papa, añadiendo que “el modo en que la utilicemos para incluir a los últimos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas, a los vulnerables y a los más necesitados, será la verdadera medida de nuestra humanidad”.

Gathering Music: Huron Carol

The “Huron Carol” (or “‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime”) is a Christmas hymn, written in 1643 by Jean de Brébeuf, a Christian missionary at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons in Canada.

We send our congratulations to the Christian community of Puerto Eten who have recently opened a bakery, which they have named in honor of the Sisters of Mercy.

Over the past few years, large numbers of people from Venezuela have been arriving in Peru, seeking safety, shelter and hospitality. This new bakery provides bread to supplement the meals that the community has already been serving.

Felicitamos a la comunidad cristiana de Puerto Eten por la reciente apertura de una panadería, que han bautizado en honor de las Hermanas de la Misericordia.

En los últimos años, un gran número de personas procedentes de Venezuela han llegado a Perú en busca de seguridad, refugio y hospitalidad. Esta nueva panadería proporciona pan para complementar las comidas que la comunidad ya ha estado sirviendo.

Todavía estamos a una semana de la Navidad, la gran fiesta hacia la que nos acerca el tiempo de Adviento, pero hoy se nos recuerda que, como cristianos, sabemos que el nacimiento de Cristo que vamos a celebrar es algo que ya ha tenido lugar y que Jesús ya está presente entre nosotros.

The first session of “Reflections on the Synod Assembly 2023” took place on December 6th. The first session offered information about the Synod Assembly as a whole and sharing from each of the UISG Synod Delegates about different aspects of the experience.

La primera sesión de “Reflexiones sobre la Asamblea del Sínodo 2023” tuvo lugar el 6 de diciembre. La primera sesión ofreció información sobre la Asamblea Sinodal en su conjunto y el intercambio de cada uno de los Delegados Sinodales de la UISG sobre diferentes aspectos de la experiencia.

Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Each year on December 10 the whole global community celebrates Human Rights Day. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges. This declaration, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948, sets out a broad range of fundamental rights and freedoms to which every person, regardless of race, gender, creed, ethnicity, language, color, national or social origin, political persuasion is entitled.

For 75 years, the core ambition of the Declaration has been to infuse societies with equality, fundamental freedoms and justice. It enshrines the rights of all human beings and is a global blueprint for international, national, and local laws and policies and a bedrock of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Conmemoración del 75 aniversario de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos.

Cada año, el 10 de diciembre, toda la comunidad mundial celebra el Día de los Derechos Humanos. Este año se cumple el 75 aniversario de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos, uno de los compromisos mundiales más innovadores. Esta declaración, adoptada por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas en 1948, establece un amplio abanico de derechos y libertades fundamentales a los que tiene derecho toda persona, independientemente de su raza, sexo, credo, etnia, lengua, color, origen nacional o social o convicciones políticas.

Durante 75 años, la ambición central de la Declaración ha sido infundir en las sociedades igualdad, libertades fundamentales y justicia. Consagra los derechos de todos los seres humanos y es un modelo mundial para las leyes y políticas internacionales, nacionales y locales, así como uno de los pilares de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible.

The Season of Advent (3-24 December) has commenced and COP28 is now underway in Dubai. Instead of the traditional Advent wreath, consider creating a Cosmic Advent wreath. The Cosmic wreath is rooted in “deep incarnation.” This invites us into a radically different relationship with the world, a relationship where everything and everyone matters …

Week 1: Birth of the Universe

Week 2: Birth of the Solar system

Week 3: Birth of Jesus, the Christ

Week 4: My Birth into the whole Cosmic Body of the Universe

The 5^th moment is centered in “All is One”, the moment that Pope Francis calls “the joy of our hope.”
