Today we honor St. Brigid, one of the most beloved saints of Ireland, founder and abbess, peacemaker, spiritual guide, woman of contemplation and action and model of wise female leadership. She was renowned for her compassion for the sick and for those who are poor, for her hospitality, her love of and care for nature, her healing powers and her commitment to justice.
Let us draw inspiration from Brigid, whose life and values align with ours as we seek to image the Face of God in all Creation.
Today we also remember Sister M. Antonio Egan, founder, community leader, risk-taker, zealous missionary, courageous and strong Mercy woman whose life and ministry gave witness to her trust in a provident and merciful God.

Hoy honramos a Santa Brígida, una de las santas más queridas de Irlanda, fundadora y abadesa, pacificadora, guía espiritual, mujer de contemplación y accióny modelo de sabio liderazgo femenino. Fue célebre por su compasión hacia los enfermos y los pobres, por su hospitalidad, su amor y cuidado de la por su hospitalidad, su amor y cuidado de la naturaleza, sus poderes curativos y su compromiso con la justicia.
Inspirémonos en Brígida, cuya vida y valores coinciden con los nuestros en nuestro intentode ser imagen del Rostro de Dios en toda la Creación.
Hoy también recordamos a la Hermana M. Antonio Egan, fundadora, líder comunitaria, arriesgada, celosa misionera, valiente y fuerte mujer de la Misericordia, cuya vida y ministerio dieron testimonio de su confianza en un Dios providente y misericordioso.

We are thankful for the work that has been done to secure 
As we begin a new year, we do so with hope in our hearts – hope in God, hope for one another, hope for our torn and suffering world, hope for the universe which is evolving according to God’s plan. Let us listen to the words of Pope Francis, words to inspire, comfort and challenge us to be bearers of hope as we go forward into a year of promise … 
On this feast of St. Francis of Assisi, let us pray his prayer of peace for all affected by the violence, displacement and death of people and destruction of land and property as a result of the wars throughout the region.
