The Team “Commission on Human Mobility and Human Trafficking” of the Diocese of Chiclayo which was founded by Bishop Emeritus Robert Provost (Pope Leo XIV) in 2017. Seeing entire families of migrants with children sleeping in parks and in front of the Cathedral led him to form a team to face the humanitarian crisis.

The Commission’s job was to welcome and provide opportunities for migrants. They had support in Migratory Regularization, offering temporary shelters and access to some rental housing; access to health, job search, and above all the formation of a network of migrant leaders throughout the region, giving them the responsibility of seeking, articulating and advancing their activities in coordination with the commission.

The commission, in its plan, has the task of visiting parishes to carry out awareness workshops on trafficking, which is a very current and worrying issue.
